Abstract: The aim of this study is to present the use of phonetics in non-linguitic researches and sciences such as music and singing. Sung Lyrics of Slovenian songs/poetry have not been investigated phonetically, taking into consideration their quality (vowel formant frequency). The word is about musical art (lyrics), paying attention to the phonetic realization based upon the Slovene language and its norm, which show excellent articulation of the sung vowels.

Abstract:The speech rate is comparatively ignored in linguistic and phonetic research and monographs. Most often it is discussed from the viewpoint of feeling, linguistic sense (a slow, fast, or suitable speech rate) and mainly in connection with rhythm, which includes volume and stress. The speech rate depends on the topic and purpose of communication, as well as the personal (and colloquial) attributes of the speaker. With the development of electronic media and the technical revolution, the speech rate is becoming more and more important, especially due to the significance of speed and the rapid life tempo. On television, seconds are worth thousands or even millions of dollars/Euros, which makes the speech rate and the passing of information all the more important. Nevertheless, the speech rate must be appropriate to the language and the topic so that listeners and viewers can understand the message. Values that will be presented in this article are an important point of reference for Slovenian and other languages. The rate of Slovenian speech in regards to measurements is mostly 4.5 -6.5 syllables per second, deviations are, of course, also possible.

The underlying premise of this case study of the growth and development of the Hare Krishna movement is that frame alignment is a necessary, but largely unexplored, element in recruitment to religious movements. Attention is given here to the interactive and communicative processes used by ISKCON members in the United States as they strategically sought to align the practices, goals and beliefs of the movement with the unconventional interests and perspectives of recruits from the 1960s counterculture. The alignment processes described here represent attempts to gain the provisional interest of potential recruits. Whether successful or not, the alignment strategies helped define the Hare Krishna movement in America. As the counterculture declined in the mid-1970s, however, the leadership turned to a new constituent base of Hindu immigrants from India to secure the movement’s future. This required new forms of alignment that contributed to the Hinduization of the North American Hare Krishna movement.

V članku je obravnavano jezikovno preklapljanje iz narečja v nadnarečje oz. standardni jezik v treh položajih rabe jezika v folklornem dogodku. Ta označuje razmerje med petjem pesmi, govorom med informatorjem ali informatorko in spraševalcem ali spraševalko ter prilagajanje obeh različnim govornim položajem v dogodku. Ugotovitve temeljijo na analizi treh variant ljudske balade »Samomor nune« iz treh narečnih okolij in ene molitve ter analize govora. Ob tem avtorica razpravlja še o simbolnem pomenu rabe jezika v jezikovno-socialnem položaju ter vprašanju identitetne rabe obravnavanih jezikovnih kodov.
