A radio over fiber system for transmission of 3-Gb/s uncompressed HD video is proposed and demonstrated. By using a polarization modulator (PolM) in the transmitter, the power fading caused by the dispersion of the optical fiber is effectively reduced. In the receiver, an injection-locked frequency-doubling optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) is employed to simultaneously extract the RF carrier and perform photonic microwave downconversion. The system features simple configuration, high performance and stable operation.Index Terms -Radio over fiber, video transmission, dispersion compensation, optoelectronic oscillator.
