“…Although the academic success of young people is closely linked to their health, the focus of schools on improving test scores in reading and maths in particular has paradoxically led to pressure to reduce lessons devoted to physical activity. Thus, the integration of the acquisition of literacy and the development of physical activity may not only influence children's health, but may also help them to be more successful in school, which can be facilitated by a carefully annotated list of children's literature related to health and physical education (Fingon, 2011). What our study adds to these research findings is the conclusion that motivation and positive attitudes towards the implementation of physical activities, acquired in childhood through reading appropriate children's literature, persist in the long term, often for several decades.…”
