The integration of the SRL strategy into instructional practices is motivated by the desire to nurture students' autonomy in learning, a trait that is increasingly emphasized in contemporary educational discourse. This study investigates the integration of the Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) strategy into the instructional framework of an Interpretive Reading course. Given the emphasis on fostering students' learning independence inherent in the SRL strategy, it becomes crucial to ensure that instructional practices align with this objective, particularly within the context of a course designed for first-semester university students. The study adopts a case study approach within an Interpretive Reading class at a private university in Indonesia. Here, the focus is on evaluating the instructional strategies vis-à-vis the criteria delineated in each phase of the SRL strategy: Forethought and Planning, Monitoring of Performance, and Reflection on Performance. The findings reveal that the instructional interventions implemented by the lecturer predominantly meet the criteria established for each phase of the SRL strategy. These instructions serve as scaffolding mechanisms, guiding students towards developing their autonomy in learning processes. Furthermore, the study underscores the effectiveness of these instructions in enhancing students' interpretive reading skills. Consequently, the outcomes of this study hold implications for the integration of digital texts within the instructional context, suggesting their potential to further support and enhance student learning experiences in Interpretive Reading classrooms.

This paper aims to provide insight on how Self-regulated learning strategy is implemented in a classroom by presenting how three phases of the strategy; Forethought and Planning phase, Monitoring Performance phase, and Reflection on Performance phase; are shown in the lesson plan of Literal Reading Course at university level to support independent learning skill. This is a case study observing the lesson plan of Literal Reading course in a private university in Central Java, Indonesia. It shows the examples on how each phase of the strategy is realized in the lesson plan considering the aim of the phase which is mentioned to be important to help student become familiar with the course and prepare themselves before joining the sessions of the lecture. Integrating the phases in the lesson plan helps students to be more confident and motivated in joining the lecture since they know what they will face in advance instead of getting sudden materials from the lecturer. It can be inferred that the implementation of the strategy is considered complete by arranging a lesson plan that matches the phases of Self-regulated learning strategy to support the process of Literal Reading learning that is expected to guide students during the lecture.

Reading skills has always been emphasised in English language classrooms because reading skills is believed to be crucial in helping students become proficient writers and speakers in the process of second language acquisition. However, the "Programme for International Student Assessment" (PISA) 2018 results revealed that most of Malaysian students were still below international benchmark in reading. Therefore, the current systematic review focuses on the effectiveness of Reader's Theatre, a strategy to teach reading, in improving students' reading performance. Employing the "Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses" (PRISMA) review methodology, a total of 15 eligible articles were selected from two databases, which were ERIC and Google Scholar. The identified articles ranged from the year 2013 to 2022. From the articles, it was found out that Reader's Theatre was effective in improving students' oral reading fluency and reading comprehension. Most of the studies in the primary school context focused on the components of oral reading fluency, such as pronunciation, word recognition and prosody; studies in the secondary school context focused more on vocabulary building and reading comprehension. The results also demonstrated the effects of Reader's Theatre in improving motivation among students. It is suggested that future studies focus more on investigating the effectiveness of Reader's Theatre with the integration of technology.
