Integration and Management of Solar Energy for Electric Vehicle Charging Station

Abstract: A rise of electric vehicles and consequent increase of charging stations in the UK has widely been acknowledged due to its negligible carbon emissions leading to the transformation of low-carbon economy. A dynamic increase in the wind and solar power systems installation and grid-integration to the charging stations of electric vehicles has led uncertainty issues in the power distribution grid e.g voltage fluctuations, transients/harmonics. This paper addresses the uncertainty scenario aiming to contribute and… Show more

“…It is pertinent to mention that the energy conversion efficiency with thermoelectric system still needs improvement. Also, a greater potential can be realised with the use of phase change material for storing the waste heat for useful purpose, specifically for the charging of electric vehicles [40,41,42] that subsequently improves the overall charging efficiency. The latest developments include nanomaterials [7], but these are still in the development stage, and system design improvements such as thermoelectric material volume and weight.…”

“…Temperature is one of the major properties which conclude the climate of any area. Any change in temperature results in the change of climate of the region affecting the power generation from the PV system [34]. Most of the areas in Pakistan experienced higher weather temperatures influencing higher surface temperatures elevating above 45 °C during summer months.…”

“…The PV systems installed are of two types, on-grid and off-grid systems [32]. In the grid-connected system PV panels are connected directly to the grid by using DC/AC power electronics converters [33,34]. The major component to convert the DC generated power into AC power with required voltage is the inverter.…”

“…In order to investigate the power flow from the PV system, current-voltage linkage is analysed. PV modules can be designed in parallel and series to achieve the required output power [39]. The current-voltage and efficiency are investigated in Eastern Pakistan to examine the temperature power flow, a similar approach is used in [27].…”
