“…In response to the NEGP, West Sumatra Province issued Regional Regulation Number 11 of 2019 concerning the 2019-2050 Regional Energy General Plan (RUED), which sets an ambitious target for developing renewable energy generation of 2,068 MW in 2019-2028. In addition, West Sumatra Province also targets to improve the regional energy mix by increasing the contribution of renewable energy from 19.6% in 2015 to 51.7% in 2025 and even reaching 70.9% in 2050 [11]. This target makes West Sumatra Province the province with Indonesia's highest renewable energy mix target.…”

“…The concept of decentralization is helpful for efficient waste management by combining economic efficiency with the environment [15]. In addition, decentralization is needed to encourage lower-level governments (local governments) to compete and show the best performance in management, and granting authority to lower-level governments (local governments) also reduces investment from the Government in economic and environmental development [16] [17]. An essential element of Good Environmental Governance, according to [8], is the principle of subsidiarity.…”

The administration has demonstrated a firm dedication to enhancing renewable energy (RE) proportion within the country's energy portfolio [14]. Nevertheless, notwithstanding these objectives, considerable scope exists for enhancing renewable energy advancement, particularly in areas such as West Sumatra Province.…”
