Integration Sites and Genotype Distributions of Human Papillomavirus in Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia

Abstract: Objectives: To analyse HPV integration prevalence and genotype distributions in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) in east part of China, furthermore to assess preferential sites for common HPV integrations and provide baseline information for cervical abnormality screening and prevention. Methods: Integration of HPV in 113 paraffin-embedded cervical intraepithelial neoplasia samples was assessed using Gencap technology in Key Laboratory of Biotechnologies in BGI-Shenzhen. Results: 64 samples were HPV-in… Show more

“…HPV16 was the most prevalent genotype detected in the world, followed by HPV 42, 58, 31, 18 and 56. HPV16 was twice as frequent as any other high-fist type in all regions, and the next commonest high-risk types were HPV33 and 56 in Asia (Quek et al, 2013;Wang et al, 2013). In China, HPV16/18 was the predominant typo, followed by 58, 31, and 52 (Bao et al, 2008).…”

“…Base on a study of Wang et al (2013), the integration of HPV DNA into the human gene has been proposed as a potential marker of cervical neoplastic progression and they suggested that HPV 16 and 58 were found the most frequently integrated genotypes. Although cytology screening has significantly reduced the incidence and mortality rate of cervical cancer, its usefulness is limited to samples collected from the site of the lesion, resulting in its low sensitivity and unsuitability for use in medical screening programs (Gibb, 2011).…”

“…Há mais de 100 tipos conhecidos de HPV, sendo que 40 podem contaminar o trato ano-genital 1 . Dentre esses, distingue-se os HPVs de "baixo risco" oncogênico como os genótipos 6 e 11 e os HPVs de "alto risco" oncogênico, representados principalmente pelos genótipos 16 e 18, que são responsáveis pelas lesões pré-cancerosas e por 2/3 dos cânceres cervicais 2 .…”
