Intensification of the drying process of small seed oilseeds using microwave electromagnetic radiation

Abstract: <p>One of the important and crucial stages of post-harvest treatment of rapeseed is drying. The purpose of the article is to improve the drying process of seeds of small seed oil crops using electromagnetic radiation of the microwave range in order to increase its productivity and determine the optimal operating parameters. The article describes the construction of a new microwave (UHF) dryer with a capacity of 200 kg h-1 for drying small-seeded crops. Curves were obtained that show the dependence of the… Show more

“…The use of microwave treated plants for seed drying is attractive to consumers due to the lack of fuel. At the same time, the technical parameters of such plants, such as AST-3, allow drying of the product with an initial humidity of 25%, with a productivity of 1.5 to 4.5 t•h -1 , removing 4 to 6.2% of moisture in a single pass when drying grain [GANEEV et al 2020;HEMIS et al 2016]. A comparative assessment of the economic efficiency of the AST-3 [BOSH-KOVA et al 2019] revealed a decrease in production costs and the cost of processing a ton of grain by more than 20% compared to a Vesta 5 dryer operating on diesel fuel.…”

“…Based on [10], we present information from the theory of solving initial-boundary value problems that is necessary for our case. The solution to the original problem (11) for the Y field is represented as a sum:…”

“…where the functions on the right side are found as solutions to other, simpler initialboundary value problems. Exactly, these problems have the same form (11), in which f=μ1=μ2=0 (the problem for Y1); μ1=μ2=φ=0 (the problem for Y2); f=φ=0 (the problem for Y3) is successively assumed. Solutions to problems for Y1 and Y2 look like this:…”
