“…nov., and this species thus represents yet another human clinical Burkholderia species with interesting biotechnological properties (Coenye et al, 2001 ; Coenye and Vandamme, 2003 ; Goris et al, 2004 ; Mahenthiralingam et al, 2005 ). This study therefore further underscores that there is no phylogenetic subdivision in the genus Burkholderia that distinguishes beneficial from pathogenic strains (Angus et al, 2014 ; Sawana et al, 2014 ; Estrada-de los Santos et al, 2016 ; Dobritsa and Samadpour, 2016 ).…”

“…Early reports of liver splits, especially in adults, led to concern for worse outcomes following use of a split liver graft, specifically with concern for higher complication rates . Since that time, the selective use of split liver transplants has been shown to have outcomes that parallel those of whole graft liver transplants . In a 2013 publication of our split liver transplantation experience by Doyle et al., we reported excellent outcomes for both adults and children receiving split liver grafts.…”

“…Bone marrow, heart, liver, and kidney transplantations are performed in many countries however, recently the transplantation field has progressed to islet cell and multi-visceral transplantations in some centers (Figures 2, 3). Due to the current demand of organ donors exceeding the number of transplantable organs, live donation (liver and kidneys), and split graft transplants (liver) have become a vital option (62).…”
