Inter-Stage Dynamic Performance of an Axial Compressor of a Twin-Shaft Industrial Gas Turbine

Abstract: In this study, the inter-stage dynamic performance of a multistage axial compressor is simulated through a semi-empirical model constructed in the Matlab Simulink environment. A semi-empirical 1-D compressor model developed in a previous study has been integrated with a 0-D twin-shaft gas turbine model developed in the Simulink environment. Inter-stage performance data generated through a high-fidelity design tool and based on throughflow analysis are considered for the development of the inter-stage modeling … Show more

“…Energy usage and environmental pollution will be significantly reduced by improving the operational performance of gas turbines. To evaluate the overall performance of a gas turbine and satisfy operational and maintenance requirements, knowledge of the gas turbine's fundamental state is crucial [8,9]. Several pieces of commercial simulation software have shown to be helpful tools for creating models of certain engine performance models [10].…”

“…Meloni used CFD to analyze emissions from heavy-duty gas turbine burners and validated the analysis results by comparing them to experimental results [10]. Cruz-Manzo et al predicted inter-stage dynamic compressor performance for a twin-shaft industrial gas turbine by combining a 1D compressor model and a 0D component model [11]. Numerical analysis conducted by combining different dimensions is usefully used as a method to obtain high-accuracy analysis results.…”
