“…Although there was no plasticizer migration from the plastics, the mechanical properties were still poor in comparison to PVC/DEHP. Later, in 2020, Najafi and Abdollahi [ 102 ] proposed to covalently attach to PVC chains four different compounds, namely tributyl citrate, propargyl ether tributyl citrate, oleic acid and poly(dimethylsiloxane) diglycidyl ether terminated. The T g of all samples was lower than for neat PVC; however, the values were relatively high (62.6 to 41 °C) in comparison to blends with plasticizers that are not covalently bonded with PVC (in this study, such a comparison was not shown).…”

“…Various efforts for producing more eco‐friendly plasticizers have been carried out by using biobased sources such as diester succinates, which display better biodegradation behavior and comparable plasticization properties to these of 2‐ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) 7,8 . Various types of plasticizers may be derived from biobased building blocks such as tung oil, 9,10 levulinic acid, 11 eugenol‐levulinic acid or valeric acid, 12 tartaric acid, 13 glycerol‐adipic acid, 14 2,5‐bis‐(hydroxymethyl furan) derived from crop plants, 15 5‐hydroxymethyl‐2‐furancarboxylic acid, 16 castor oil, 17,18 tributyl citrate/propargyl ether tributyl citrate/oleic acid/poly (dimethylsiloxane) diglycidyl ether terminated, 19 among others were developed. Although, the biodegradability and toxicological assays for those compounds are still limited, and their effectiveness is assessed in PVC.…”

“…The counterfeiter may use PVC with a different compatibilizer in their product [ 32 ]. Hence, it can be concluded that another quality of PVC was used to produce the counterfeit pharmaceutical plastic blisters, obtainable from a different supplier or by using a compatibilizer that is different from the legitimate manufacturer of the authentic medicine [ 33 ]. As demonstrated in this study, DSC allows differentiating between different qualities of PVC solely based on their thermal transitions, despite having a similar FTIR spectrum.…”
