Interoperability of photogrammetry in 3D modeling: documentation, research and dissemination in the archaeological site of Jamila

Abstract: This paper intends to be a sample, both theoretical and practical, of a protocol for the use of photogrammetric resources when generating a three-dimensional archaeological model. The use of said resources allows to cheaply compile, systematise, use and share the generated data –photogrammetric and 3D- in order to both work with hypothesis and share the knowledge –via online repositories with an academic public or with a wider audience using didactics and other means of spreading History and Archaeology–. As a… Show more

“…Precisamente por esta rápida expansión es necesario establecer ciertas propuestas metodológicas que nos faciliten realizar trabajos que cumplan con el mínimo de rigor y calidad exigidos por la comunidad internacional, tanto para trabajos de fotogrametría aérea como de terrestre (Ruiz et al, 2015;Moya-Maleno et al, 2015).…”

“…One such approach is the systematic incorporation of photogrammetry in archaeological practice. Photogrammetry is often utilized to facilitate the 3D reconstruction of artifacts, sites, and archaeological deposits and features for their integration into a 3D GIS (Barceló and Vicente 2004; Beale and Reilly 2017; Chiabrando et al 2018; Chibunichev et al 2018; Douglass et al 2015; Emmitt et al 2021; Forte et al 2012; Gajski et al 2016; Hamilton and Stephenson 2016; Katsianis et al 2008; Moya-Maleno et al 2015; Nikolakopoulos et al 2017; Nobles and Roosevelt 2021; Peng et al 2017; Walcek Averett et al 2016), although best practices are under continued consideration (Dell'Unto et al 2017; Fabio 2004; Galeazzi 2016, 2018; Galeazzi and Di Giuseppantonio Di Franco 2017; Gavryushkina 2021).…”
