Interpretation of hydrogeological functioning of a high karst plateau using the KARSYS approach: the case of Trnovsko-Banjška planota (Slovenia)

Abstract: Slabe: Interpratacija delovanja vodonosnika visokega krasa z uporabo modela KARSYS: primer Trnovsko-Banjške planote (Slovenija) Visoki kras TrnovskoBanjške planote predstavlja enega najpo membnejših vodonosnih sistemov v Sloveniji. Show more

“…It provides water to the Slovenian town of Nova Gorica and represents an additional water source for the Italian town of Gorizia. Janež et al (1997), Kranjc (1997), Turk et al (2013) nd no data a Increase in water consumption is usually doubled in the summer months due to tourism and drought Under the above Act, it is the government's responsibility to establish water protection areas and regimes in karst areas with drinking water sources and to ensure implementation of the provisions in each protection zone (under previous legislation the responsibility for protection fell to local communities). In the area in question, the Rižana spring is the only source to have an approved water protection zone and regime at the national level (Official Gazette of the RS, No.…”

“…An important inflow of karst water into the Soča/Isonzo (via its tributary the Vipava/ Vipacco) is also represented by the Hubelj spring, with flows ranging from 0.18 to 49 m 3 /s. A 3-D model constructed on the basis of geological data and results of tracer tests evidenced a divergent region between the systems of Mrzlek and Hubelj springs (Turk et al, 2013). In this area, the perched groundwater body is expected to overflow to the east towards the Hubelj spring and to the west towards the Mrzlek spring.…”
