Show more

“…We also highlight the potential discrepancies among these three criteria when classifying fetuses as severely anemic. It is important to emphasize that this study was not addressed to evaluate recommendations to indicate cordocentesis or to compare the noninvasive methods to predict fetal anemia or even to analyze current protocols to manage Rh-alloimmunized pregnancies [ 2 , 14 ].…”

“…Maternal alloimmunization still affects a large number of pregnancies, particularly in developing countries [ 1 , 2 ]. These pregnancies need specific follow-up at tertiary referral centers to carry out proper monitoring, in the view of a high risk of perinatal morbidity and mortality [ 3 , 4 ].…”

“…Important causes for fetal anemias are red blood cells alloimmunization, parvo virus B-19 infection, twin-twintransfusion syndrome and feto-maternal hemorrhage. [1][2][3][4][5][6] Amniocentesis and cordocentesis are used for quantifying fetal anemias. But it has questionable results before the 27th week and can cause complications such as feto-maternal hemorrhage, which may further worsen the severity of the disease 7 .…”

“…Non invasive nature of this test is the cause of its global popularity and in fact fetal MCA-PSV measurements is now an established method for noninvasive assessment G and follow up of fetal anemias. [1][2][3][4] A prospective cross sectional study of fetal MCA-PSV was therefore undertaken to evaluate its utility in local community and to assess relation between MCA-PSV and gestational age because it has been reported that as pregnancy advances, the value of fetal MCA-PSV also increases. [1][2][3][4][5]…”

“…In fact, fetal MCA-PSV measurement is now an established method for noninvasive assessment and follow-up of fetal anemias. [1][2][3][4] As a pregnancy advances, the value of the fetal MCA-PSV also increases. [1][2][3][4][5] A literature review suggests, however, that the fetal MCA-PSV range is different for Asian and non-Asian populations.…”
