"This study analyses the origin of Gómez Manrique’s Exclamación y querella de la gobernación, an important 15th-century composition. It identifies the date of its writing: where, why and against whom it was written, at a time of great political upheaval in the Castile of his time. This text cannot be understood without situating it in a very precise intellectual context, the archiepiscopal court of Alonso Carrillo in Toledo and Alcalá de Henares. It is therefore necessary to situate it ideologically within this circle, which included such important writers as Juan Álvarez Gato, Rodrigo Cota, Pedro Guillén de Segovia, Alfonso de Palencia, Juan de Mazuela, Pedro Díaz de Toledo and Francisco de Noya, among others."
