Prior studies have provided evidence for the latter in school settings (Bers & Urrea, 2000; Dias et al, 2005), technical and vocational schools (Alimisis et al, 2005), after‐school programmes (Barker & Ansorge, 2007; Rusk et al, 2008), summer camps (Balaguer Álvarez, 2017; Barger et al, 2011; van Delden & Yang, 2014), and in more innovative settings such as in project‐based learning environments (Carbonaro et al, 2004) and various STEM fields (Nugent et al, 2010; Williams et al, 2007).
