Investigation of Cyclic Water Injection after Polymer Flood in Xing4-6 Field, Daqing

Abstract: Xing 4-6 is a multilayer sandstone reservoir which has already experienced a secondary water flood in the entire reservoir and a tertiary polymer injection in certain formations. The polymer flooding began in 2001 as a typical polymer flooding field in Daqing. Currently, the Xing 4-6 is reaching the end of the designed polymer injection. In this paper, a cyclic water flood after the polymer injection is investigated in this field. The research is principally on the basis of reservoir simulations. After the his… Show more

“…Xing 4-5 was mainly designed to develop three reservoirs: Saertu, Putaohua, and Gaotaizi. Putaohua is the principal reservoir and plays important role in stable oil production in the Xingbei Unit (Gao et al, 2009). According to the stratigraphy, Putaohua is subdivided into Putaohua I (PI) and Putaohua II (PII).…”

“…So far, 80% of its wells have been converted to CSS production wells. In order to further the performance of CSS, the pilot test of CSS with superheated steam began in 2006 and it exhibited even better results compared with wet steam injection (Gao et al, 2009;Zhao et al, 2010). The average oil rate was increased by 61.9%; the cyclic production period was increased by 90 days, the average watercut was reduced by more than 10%; and the residual oil saturation was minimized by 27.30%.…”

“…the residual oil distribution after polymer flooding was highly heterogenous. Therefore, the further development of such reservoirs has become a big challenge due to high water cut, poor sweep efficiency, severe heterogeneity and highly dispersed residual oil [5][6][7]. Foam flooding, as a candidate EOR technique integrating both properties of gas injection technique and chemical flooding, has been proposed.…”
