“…The conductivity values of YSZ, BCV, and YSZBCV composite samples in the temperature range 400800°C under wet air conditions are shown in Figure 3. The conductivity of YSZ and BCV was comparable to the literature data: 15,22 The conductivity of BCV at 700°C has been reported to be 56 times higher than that of YSZ under the same conditions. More importantly, the conductivity of the YSZBCV composite samples was very close to that of YSZ.…”

“…The calculated cell resistance from the IeV curve above 1.4 V was approximately 10 U cm 2 , whereas the cell resistance was much larger and reached w100 U cm 2 at low voltages. The expected ionic resistance of such a YSZ pellet was approximately 6 U cm 2 at 700 C [20], which indicates that the ionic resistance of the YSZ electrolyte largely contributed to the total cell resistance at higher potentials, while the electrode polarization resistance dominated the total cell resistance at low voltages. The final current density of the solid oxide electrolyzer reached w90 mA cm À2 with an applied voltage of 2 V at 700 C.…”

“…1,000°C). As it has been shown by Ghatee et al [2], the addition of 3YSZ material to 8YSZ results in decrease of electrical conductivity with simultaneous improvement of toughness and fracture strength of composite above 550°C. Incorporation of some dopants can improve properties of YSZ materials.…”
