Investigation of gas gathering pipelines operation efficiency and selection of improvement methods

Abstract: Purpose: The article implies theoretical and experimental studies of the liquid pollution accumulations impact on the efficiency of gathering gas pipelines operation at the Yuliivskyi oil and gas condensate production facility (OGCPF). Research of efficiency of gas pipelines cleaning by various methods. Design/methodology/approach: The research methodology consists of determining the hydraulic efficiency of gathering gas pipelines before and after cleaning of their internal cavity by different methods and comp… Show more

“…To reduce energy consumption during transportation and increase gas recovery, it is essential to enhance the hydraulic efficiency of pipelines by periodically cleaning their internal cavities from accumulated contaminants. Various methods are employed for this purpose, including devices for liquid drainage, surfactant application, creation of highvelocity gas flow, and the use of different types of cleaning pigs [11,12]. Each method has its advantages and drawbacks, and the most favorable approaches are those that minimize energy losses and environmental pollution.…”

“…In [20][21], an experimental-industrial test was carried out to determine the efficiency of cleaning the inner cavity of gathering gas pipelines with foams of different expansion ratio. It is established that cleaning the inner cavity of gathering gas pipelines with foams with expansion ratio of 80 to 90 leads to an increase in the coefficient of hydraulic efficiency by 10.5%, and foams with expansion ratio of 50 to 60 by 5.7%.…”

“…At the enterprises of JSC "Ukrgazvydobuvannya" to ensure the stabilization of hydrocarbon production, various measures are being developed, which are aimed at preventing possible complications, in particular, the accumulation of liquid in the well flowlines, as well as the formation of hydrates. Thus, to prevent the accumulation of liquid pollution in the inner cavity of the well flowlines, it is advisable to periodically clean them by creating a high-speed gas flow [3][4], using a surfactant solution [5][6], using foam of different multiplicity [7][8] and other methods . The optimal method should be chosen based on experimental studies.…”
