Abstract: Pnictide superconductors will be very promising for applications if wires with high critical current density J c can allow reel-to-reel large-scale fabrication at low costs. To understand the mechanism(s) that limited J c in flat-rolled Sr 0.6 K 0.4 Fe 2 As 2 (Sr122) tapes, microstructure analysis has been considered the most direct and efficient way. Here, we report on high-resolution microstructure imaging and analysis on Fe-sheathed flat-rolled Sr122 tapes, which have a J c as high as 2.3 × 10 4 A/cm 2 at 1… Show more

“…For high-J c REBCO tapes, highly textured grains with a small in-plane misalignment are achieved by the coated conductor technology. [69]. SEM images and electron probe microanalysis area mappings for the superconducting core of (e) Pb-, (f) Zn-, and (g) In-added Sr-122 tapes, which further confirms the inhomogeneous distribution of Pb.…”

“…However, the distribution of Sn is very interesting. Zhang et al believe that the added Sn works to assist the sintering [37]. Considering the relatively lower sintering temperature, adding Sn to assist the sintering was adopted.…”

“…A high magnification HAADF-STEM image (b) and a high resolution TEM image (c) reveal that there are stacking faults of Fe-As layers on (001) planes in region 'A', and that region 'B' is an amorphous layer with a width of 2 nm. Amorphous layers on grain boundaries are also reported to exist in the Sr-122 polycrystalline bulk material [33,34]. T cM values are defined as the temperature at which the decrease magnetization |4πM/H| becomes 90% of the difference between those at the superconducting and normal states, i.e., the difference between |4πM/H| at 30 K and 10 K, and f shield values are defined by |4πM/H|×100% at 10 K. T cM increased with the heating temperature, and T cM higher than 23 K was observed for the samples heated above 600 °C.…”
