“…Serum 17β-estradiol (pg/ml) and progesterone (ng/ml) concentrations during estrous cycle in Malnad Gidda cows The values of progesterone hormone concentration on different days of estrous cycle obtained in the present study were in accordance with the findings ofSingh et al (2006) in Sahiwal;Kerketta et al (2019) in crossbred cattle andIslam et al (2020) in Red Chittagong cattle. However, report byDhabale et al (2000) in repeat breeding cows,Rabiee et al (2002) in lactating cows at day 0 and Yildiz et al…”

“…The concentration of progesterone in peripheral plasma reflects the luteal funtion in cows during the normal estrous cycle. Similarly, Tabatabaei et al (2014), Kerketta et al (2019) and Islam et al (2020) noticed higher progesterone concentration in diestrus than in proestrus, estrus and during metestrus stage of estrous cycle. The post-estrous higher concentration of progesterone hormone up to day 18 could be due to luteinisation of follicular cells after ovulation and subsequent progesterone secretion from the corpus luteum.…”

“…A decline in serum progesterone levels beyond day 13, recorded in this study, collated with the regression of corpus luteum. The level of estradiol in the Lakhimi cow during the estrous cycle was highest on the day before estrus, on day 0, and maintained a low concentration throughout the cycle, as reported byIslam et al 2020). Only a peak concentration of LH in the Lakhimi cow on day 1 of the estrous cycle, was maintained at a very low throughout the cycle which is crucial for nal oocyte maturation as reported byDias et al (2010).The ovarian follicular dynamics pattern in Lakhimi cows followed two wave patterns mostly with low numbers of follicles (>3mm).…”

“…In Bangladesh, major portion of this milk come from indigenous cattle such as Red Chittagong cattle, Munshiganj cattle, Pabna cattle and North Bengal grey cattle and remaining rest is known as non-descript indigenous cattle (Das et al, 2021) which are being reared in marginal farmers' house. Among the indigenous cattle genotype Red Chittagong Cattle (RCC) is a promising genotype known for its distinct phenotypic characteristics, adaptability to the hot humid climatic environment, high resistance to diseases, and high-quality milk and beef production (Hossain et al, 2020;Islam et al, 2020). The Red Chittagong Cattle (RCC) serves as a dual-purpose breed, contributing to both dairy and beef production.…”
