Öz Divan şiiri, oldukça uzun, köklü ve kendine has bir sanat anlayışına sahiptir. Genellikle sosyal hayattan uzak ve yalnızca saray çevresinde gelişmiş bir edebiyat olduğu iddiasıyla birçok haksız eleştiriye maruz kalan divan şiiri, bu eleştirilerin aksine birçok edebî türün içerisinde, sosyal hayatı ve Osmanlı toplumunun günlük yaşantısını yansıtmıştır. Çoğu divan şairi çevrelerinde meydana gelen olayları, farklı hayal unsurları ve imajlarla tasavvur etmişler, bu tasavvurları şiirlerinde başarılı bir biçimde kullanmışlardır. Bu şairlerden biri de XVI. yüzyıl Balkan coğrafyasının önemli isimlerinden olan Ziyâî Efendi'dir. Mostarlı Ziyâî Efendi içinde yaşadığı sosyal ve günlük hayata kayıtsız kalmamış, o devir Osmanlı toplumunun birçok âdetini, inancını, yaşayışını, oyunlarını şiirlerinde yansıtmıştır. Bu çalışma, Ziyâî Efendi'nin şiirlerini sosyal hayat ve günlük yaşam bağlamında ele almış, XVI. yüzyıl Osmanlı toplumunun sosyal hayatının şiirlere nasıl yansıdığını göstermeye çalışmıştır.

Arum species grow in temperate and Mediterranean climates and have been used for hundreds of years for food and medicinal purposes, although they are highly toxic if not cooked using proper techniques. Glutathione reductase is a member of the pyridine nucleotide disulfide oxidoreductase family of flavoenzymes that catalyzes the reduction of glutathione disulfide (GSSG) to reduced GSH using NADPH or NADH. GR has a key role in the intracellular glutathione reduction-oxidation process since GSSG is formed as a result of the reactions catalyzed by the antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase, especially the detoxification of hydroperoxides and the reduction of some compounds. In this study, GR enzyme was characterized by partial purification processes including homogenate preparation, ammonium sulfate precipitation and dialysis from the leaf of Arum maculatum plant. The highest enzyme activity was found at 40-60% saturation range. Optimum ionic strength, pH and substrate concentration were investigated for GR enzyme from A. maculatum leaf. As a result of the study, these values were found to be 150 mM potassium phosphate buffer, pH 7.00, and 0.18 mM, respectively. The GR enzyme was partially purified from the leaf of the A. maculatum with a specific activity of 1.640 EU mg-1 in 34.9% yield, 1.108-fold. This study is the first study in terms of purification and characterization of GR enzyme from A. maculatum leaf.

Cellular infections underpin the pathogenesis of cancer and malaria. Mitigating cellular oxidative stress via glutathione reductase (GR) inhibition emerges as a promising therapeutic avenue. Exploiting the antioxidant-rich Houttuynia cordata Thunb., we investigated natural GR inhibitors. Among 13 docked phytochemicals, Quercetin, Quercitrin, and Sesamin exhibited exceptional GR binding affinities. Molecular Docking analysis highlighted their propensity to precisely target the GR active site. Subsequent 150 ns molecular dynamics simulations corroborated their robust interactions, unveiling dynamic stabilizing effects on the protein structure and bolstering their antioxidant potential. Furthermore, ADME-Tox profiling affirmed their favourable drug-like attributes. These findings underscore H. cordata's reservoir of potent antioxidants, poised to combat various maladies, including malaria and cancer. This study distinctly accentuates the distinctive outcomes and paramount significance of harnessing H. cordata phytochemicals as efficacious antioxidants, unravelling novel therapeutic avenues.
