Abstract:The production of HMX/Al 70/30 and the investigation of the characteristic properties are described and a comparison to RDX/Al 70/30 properties made. According to first test results, the possibility of an increased performance compared to RDX/Al 70/30 may not be ruled out.
“…The mass ratio of u-RDX and Al was constant, i.e., 70/30, as used in many reported studies. 12,13,22…”

“…[5][6][7][8][9] Aluminum (Al), a type of fuel additive, is widely applied in explosive systems to improve the heat of explosion and power capability owing to its high caloric value and energy density. [10][11][12][13] It also plays an important role in propellants in seeking higher combustion efficiency and lower pressure exponent for the main fuel. [14][15][16] Since RDX and Al usually exist simultaneously in many explosive and propellant formulations as main components, a large amount of research has been performed to study the performance, thermal behavior and decomposition mechanism of explosives and propellants containing Al and RDX.…”
To research the influence of aluminum (Al) on the decomposition of 1,3,5-trimethylene trinitramine (RDX), superfine RDX/Al composite with a mass ratio of 70/30 was prepared by mechanical ball milling.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
