Investigation on Effect of Offset Orifice Nozzle under Multi Pulse UltrahighPressure Injection and PPC Combustion Conditions

Abstract: The effect of nozzle orifice design on combustion characteristics under multi pulse ultra high pressure injection and PPC conditions. The objective of offset orifice nozzle is to shorten spray penetration and improve mixture formation in order to increase thermal efficiency. The offset orifice nozzle was designed by shift orifice aliment from into the sac center to edge of sac follow swirl direction. The experiments were carried out on a single cylinder engine at 0.55MPa gross IMEP at 1,750 RPM and 0.7MPa gros… Show more

“…Furthermore, the partially premixed mixtures had sufficient mixing time to blend better near or below the layering measurement (white line). Therefore, the mixed composition formed in SOI-3 will rapidly increase the pressure rise rate (Ewphun et al, 2020). The injection pressure is less than 800 bar, which is a normal Diesel cycle, and in the case of a high spray pressure of 1600 bar, it is a typical PPCI cycle -partial pre-mixed compression combustion.…”

“…Furthermore, the design of the nozzle orifice's influence on the combustion characteristics was investigated by Ewphun et al [309] under PCCI mode conditions and multi-pulse "ultra-high-pressure injection". The experiments were performed on a "single-cylinder" engine at 0.55 MPa IMEP g at 1750 rpm, where the injection pulses were three pulses equally mass for the main injection at injection pressures of 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000, and 3500 bar.…”

“…The parameters of the injection system and the injection characteristics have a very large influence on the combustion, emissions and performance of a compression ignition engine. The primary technique used in modern common rail injection diesel engines is the multiple injection method, which is used depending on the purpose to be served [21][22][23][24]. Depending on the engine speed and load, modern diesel engines have pilot injection, primary injection and secondary injection.…”
