Investigation on the Growth and Properties of Six Garnet Single Crystals with Large Lattice Constants

Abstract: Large lattice constant Y 3 Al 5 O 12 , Gd 3 Ga 5 O 12 (GGG), Y 3 Sc 2 Ga 3 O 12 (YSGG), Gd 3 Sc 2 Ga 3 O 12 , Ca 0.4 Mg 0.25 Zr 0.65 Gd 2.6 Ga 4.1 O 12 (CaMgZr:GGG), and Gd 1.17 Y 1.83 Sc 2 Ga 3 O 12 (GYSGG) substrate crystals with 2 in. in diameter are grown by the Czochralski (Cz) method, their physical, chemical, and optical properties are analyzed and compared in details. The X-ray rocking curves (XRCs) illustrate that the as-grown crystals possess high crystalline quality. The lattice constants of six cry… Show more

“…According to the molecular formula Ho 0.01 Lu 0.1 Y 0.89 AlO 3 , the various raw materials were mixed sufficiently, and then the powder was pressed closely into blocks. Next, the prepared blocks were placed in an iridium crucible of size Φ60 × 48 mm 2 and put into a growth furnace with an automatic diameter control system (JGD-60, CETC 26 ). Subsequently, the furnace coil power was increased to ∼2000 W and constant temperature for 4 h to remove excess water from blocks.…”
