Investigations of a Diol‐based Sol‐Gel Process for the Preparation of Lead Titanate Materials

Abstract: Lead titanate sols were prepared by a sol-gel method from lead acetate trihydrate, Pb(OOCCH3),.3H,0, and titanium di-isopropoxide bis-acetylacetonate, Ti (OC,H,),-(CH,COCHCOCH,),, in 1,3-propanediol, HO(CH,),OH, as solvent. IR analysis and NMR spectroscopic techniques were used to study the reaction mechanisms and to identify possible polymer structures developed during synthesis of the solutions.
