Abstract: Iodine deficiency is a serious worldwide public health problem, as it is responsible for mental retardation and other diseases. “…Iodine likely has an indirect effect on plant resistance given that iodine treatments induce the biosynthesis of several enzymatic or non-enzymatic compounds involved in the plant response to environmental stresses (Leyva et al, 2011;Blasco et al, 2013;Gupta, Bajpai, Majumdar & Mishra, 2015).
