Ion hopping in crystalline and glassy spodumeneLiAlSi2O6:et al.

Abstract: Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy was used to study polycrystalline ␤-spodumene ͑␤-LiAlSi 2 O 6 ͒ as well as glassy specimens with the same chemical composition.7 Li spin-lattice relaxation measurements were carried out in a broad temperature range and for several Larmor frequencies. In addition to a pronounced rate maximum at high temperatures, stemming from the long-range Li motion in these aluminosilicates, we found a weak maximum in the crystalline modification near 120 K. The latter result confirms … Show more

“…Thus, the corresponding SLR −1 rate decreases accordingly. 31 A larger difference is found when both, SLR −1 and SAE −1 ͑t p = 100 s͒ rates are compared with those values which were obtained from dc conductivity data ͑see Fig. 4͒.…”

“…frequencies 0 / 2 ranging from 10 to 77 MHz. 31,58 Plotting log͑1 / T 1diff ͒ vs ͑1 / T͒ revealed a diffusion induced rate peak for each frequency 0 / 2 . The maximum condition 0 SLR Ϸ 0.62 ͑according to BPP theory 59 ͒ allowed the estimation of SLR −1 at the temperature T M where the rate maximum appears.…”
