“…Doped Cd 1‐X Mn X Te solid solution is a promising material for tunable laser sources emitting in the middle infrared range as well as for ionizing radiation detectors . At Mn concentrations on the order of x ∼ 0.05, the crystals are used as radiation detectors.…”

“…The last has a positive effect on the homogeneity of electrical and optical properties of grown crystals. The host crystal field forms such an energy spectrum of iron dopant ions that the resulting mid‐IR band of luminescence and the optical gain are exhibited at longest wavelengths among all known host A II B VI binary compounds and solid solutions . To the best of our knowledge, optical properties of Cd 1‐X Mn X Te crystals have not been studied up to now except for several Mn concentrations, e.g.…”

“…CdTe and HgTe compounds interdiffuse easily [5,6] and the solid solution Cd 1−x Hg x Te exists for values of x ranging from 0 to 1 so that any energy band gap from 0 to 1.6 eV is obtained by a sample thermal treatment [7]. On the other hand, Cd 1−x Mn x Te is a diluted magnetic semiconductor with zinc blende structure for x < 0.77 [8] which has been of great importance in experimental and theoretical works during the last few decades and has emerged as great promising candidate in wide fields of applications [9][10][11][12]. Cd 1−x Mn x Te crystal possesses the applications in a number of devices not only owing to its unique magnetic and magneto-optic properties discovered and investigated [13,14], but also because of some unique properties leading to its potential use in a wide range of optoelectronic applications.…”

“…These hosts offer some advantages compared to the well-known ZnSe. These new materials are primarily Cr 2+ -doped cadmium and CMT, and their properties have been extensively studied (14,15). Similar to ZnSe in cadmium telluride (CdTe), the TM ions occupy tetrahedral sites.…”
