We observe several interesting phenomena in a technicolor-like model of electroweak symmetry breaking based on the D4-D8-D8 system of Sakai and Sugimoto. The benefit of holographic models based on D-brane configurations is that both sides of the holographic duality are well understood.We find that the lightest technicolor resonances contribute negatively to the Peskin-Takeuchi Sparameter, but heavy resonances do not decouple and lead generically to large, positive values of S, consistent with standard estimates in QCD-like theories. We study how the S parameter and the masses and decay constants of the vector and axial-vector techni-resonances vary over a oneparameter family of D8-brane configurations. We discuss possibilities for the consistent truncation of the theory to the first few resonances and suggest some generic predictions of stringy holographic technicolor models.

We present a calculation of the Vector Form Factor at the next-to-leading order in the 1/N C expansion, within the framework of Resonance Chiral Theory. The calculation is performed in the chiral limit, and with two dynamical quark flavours. The ultraviolet behaviour of quantum loops involving virtual resonance propagators is analyzed, together with the kind of counterterms needed in the renormalization procedure. Using the lowest-order equations of motion, we show that only a few combinations of local couplings appear in the final result. The low-energy limit of our calculation reproduces the standard Chiral Perturbation Theory formula, allowing us to determine the resonance contribution to the chiral low-energy couplings, at the next-to-leading order in 1/N C , keeping a full control of their renormalization scale dependence.

TheK * meson in dense matter is analyzed by means of a unitary approach in coupled channels based on the local hidden gauge formalism. TheK * selfenergy and the correspondingK * spectral function in the nuclear medium are obtained. We observe that theK * develops a width in matter up to five times bigger than in free space. We also estimate the transparency ratio of the γA → K + K * − A ′ reaction. This ratio is an excellent tool to detect experimentally modifications of theK * meson in dense matter.
