“…However, more slightly Trichuris-infected children did not show anaemia (Hb,(120)(121)(122)(123)(124). In this study, epg counts no higher than 900 were found, and Hb values indicative of anaemia were not associated with the slight intensity of trichuriasis, but significantly lower Hb was observed in the Trichuris-infected group in agreement with Greenberg and Cline (1979). In addition, an association was not found between trichuriasis intensity and Hb concentration and no difference was found in the Hb concentrations between children with lower and higher intensity of trichuriasis.…”

“…Ramdath et al (1995) associated lower Hb (115±13 g/l) concentrations with Trichuris infections of more than 10 000 epg in 421 schoolchildren. Greenberg and Cline (1979) studied 86 Trichuris-infected children and found an association between epg counts ranging from 10 500 to 32 860 and anaemia (o119 g/l). However, more slightly Trichuris-infected children did not show anaemia (Hb,(120)(121)(122)(123)(124).…”

“…Greenberg et al discovered that Trichuris trichiura infection had a positive correlation with a low Hb concentration but not with iron deficiency. 23 Nallam et al (1998) found that Ascaris lumbricoides infection had no role in causing anemia, 20 while Blumenthal et al (1976) in Louisiana reported that ascariasis influenced nutritional status and found that almost 50% of subjects suffered from anemia and 40% had inadequate transferrin saturation. 24 Robertson et al (1992) found that children with severe trichuriasis or mixed infection of Trichuris trichiura and hookworm had low Hb concentration.…”
