For instance, Shirikov (2020) studied WVS data and concluded that there is no significant decline in media trust among stable democracies, but this is not the case in democratizing countries and in countries that have undergone substantial political reform. Tsfati and Ariely (2014) examined media trust in 44 countries and found that the degree of country‐level postmaterialism is significantly associated with trust in media, and state ownership of television has different associations with media trust in different regimes.…”
