Islanding detection method of multi‐port photovoltaic DC micro grid based on harmonic impedance measurement

Abstract: DC Grid does not transmit reactive power, nor does it offer frequency and phase issues. This results in malfunction of conventional islanding detection methods (IDMs) that rely on the above quantities. At present, the DC IDMs proposed in literatures are mostly active power injection methods based on DC/DC converters. However, in a multi-photovoltaic (PV) DC system, the synchronization of the injection of converters is difficult to guarantee, which may lead to detection failure. This paper proposes an impedance… Show more

“…Detection of an islanding condition by monitoring the grid impedance variation is a very effective active AIP technique [19], [24]. The impedance variation is obtained by a perturbation method where a harmonic current (i h,i ) or voltage (v h,i ) signal is injected at the PCC, and the impedance is obtained from responses of the corresponding harmonic voltage (v h,r ) or current (i h,r ) with respect to injected signal as…”

“…However, literature [27][28][29][30] only validates IDMs in single-PV grid-connected system. Literature [31] presents an active method based on the DC/DC injection. The islanding detection scheme is formed by estimation of the difference of high frequency impedance before and after the islanding.…”
