Isobaric Vapor–Liquid Equilibrium for Ethyl Acetate + Acetonitrile + 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium Hexafluorophosphate at 101.3 kPa

Abstract: Vapor−liquid equilibria for the binary system ethyl acetate + acetonitrile and for the ternary system ethyl acetate + acetonitrile + 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([BMIM] + [PF 6 ] − ) at 101.3 kPa have been obtained with a modified Othmer still. The experimental vapor−liquid equilibrium data were correlated using the NRTL model proposed by Renon and Prausnitz, and the parameters were obtained. The results showed that [BMIM] + [PF 6 ] − produced a consistent salting-out effect of ethyl acetat… Show more

“…1 and 2, the TÀ(x 1 , y 1 ) and VLE(x 1 Ày 1 ) comparison of ethyl acetate(1) þ acetonitrile (2) indicates that the experimental data are in good agreement with the reported results in literature [25,26,32] and are thermodynamic consistent examined by point test. The experimental data show a minimum boiling point at x 1 ¼ 0.695 and T ¼ 348.45 K, which can be interpolated from the experimental values listed in Table 2.…”

“…Water [23] and n-hexane [24] are used as extraction solvent to extraction separation the azeotrope, but there is no further application due to the difficult solvent separation to recycle. By using ILs, the purification of acetonitrile becomes more facile [25,26]. ILs …”

“…The nonrandom two-liquid model (NRTL) was proposed by Renon and Prausnitz (1968), and it was reported to have reproduced various VLE data containing ILs properly. Therefore, the measurement data for methanol + MeCN and methanol + MeCN + ILs systems were also correlated by the NRTL model. In the NRTL model, nine binary adjustable parameters are needed and the objective function (average relative deviation, ARD) is defined as where N is the number of data points.…”

“…The detailed experimental data of the ternary VLE exhaustively collected from literature by the end of November 2013, which are important for a better understanding of the thermodynamic behavior of such systems and for process simulation and optimization, are provided in Tables S3–S15 in the Supporting Information . Supporting Information Table S16 gives a summarized result.…”
