Isobaric Vapor–Liquid Equilibrium of Citronellal + Geraniol and Citronellal + Citronellol Binary Systems at 16.0 and 32.0 kPa

Abstract: The isobaric vapor–liquid equilibrium data for citronellal + geraniol and citronellal + citronellol systems were obtained experimentally at vacuum pressures of 16.0 and 32.0 kPa using a modified glass Othmer still. Gas chromatography was used to analyze the equilibrium samples of liquid- and vapor-phase compositions. The reliability of the experimental data determined in this study was confirmed using the L–W Wisniak and Fredenslund methods. The data were correlated with the Wilson, NRTL, and UNIQUAC equations… Show more

“…These data underline that the liquid-vapor equilibrium of volatile compounds released from a liquid mixture, as is normal for EO, undergoes several parameters, including the solvent defined for different experiments, as demonstrated for the mixtures citronellal/geraniol and citronellal/citronellol at different vacuum pressures [52] or eugenol/ caryophyllene at reduced pressures [53].…”

“…In an endeavor to elevate the value of citronella oil, it becomes imperative to embark on a process of isolating its derivative compounds. This is achieved through a meticulous selection of techniques, including fractional distillation under vacuum condition, molecular distillation, or supercritical fluid extraction. The isolated pure components hold intrinsic worth, serving as fundamental raw materials for the formulation of various end products, spanning the realms of perfumes, soap fragrances, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals…”
