Isolation and Identification of Cissetin — A Setin‐Like Antibiotic with a Novel cis‐Octalin Ring Fusion.

Abstract: Fusion. -Cissetin (I) is isolated from the fungus OSI 50185 along with two known compounds. (I) is active against penicillin-resistant Streptococcus albicans. -(BOROS*, C.; DIX, A.; KATZ, B.; VASINA, Y.; PEARCE, C.; J. Antibiot. 56 (2003) 10, 862-865; Mycosynthetix Inc., Durham, NC 27707, USA; Eng.) -M. Bohle 13-194

“…These include trichosetin, 16 equisetin and altersetin, 17 CJ-21 058, 18 CJ-17 572 19 and cissetin. 20 CJ-21 058 is also known to inhibit SecA (IC 50 15 mg ml À1 ), an effector of ATP-dependent translocation of precursor proteins across bacterial cell membranes. 18 Altersetin has been reported to exhibit weak in vivo activity in a murine sepsis model at 25 mg kg À1 by i.p.…”
