Isolation of Aflatoxin B1 from Moldy Foods by Solid-Phase Extraction Combined with Bifunctional Ionic Liquid-Based Silicas

Abstract: A solid-phase extraction method was developed by using new bifunctional ionic liquid-based silicas as sorbents to isolate aflatoxin B1 from moldy corn and peanut. Firstly, according to the adsorption efficiency, two sorbents imidazolium chloride-butylimidazolium chloride-based silica (Sil@BIm-Im) and imidazolium chloride-hexylimidazolium chloride-based silica (Sil@HIm-Im) were selected. The RSM was introduced to optimize adsorption conditions such as methanol/water ratio, time, and pH. Sil@HIm-Im, which had th… Show more

“…In addition, IL maintains their properties when immobilized on substances. Therefore, IL-modified substances have been used in separations owing to their polarity, H-bonding, ion exchange, electrostatic interaction, and π - π interactions between the target and the IL functional groups [113115]. According to the different target pollutants, the stability of the substances under different pH environments, type of anions, and cations with different alkyl chain lengths and additional functional groups on IL will obviously affect the adsorption efficiency.…”

“…Ionic liquids (ILs) are well-known green reaction media with excellent chemical properties, such as hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity with different cations or anions, miscibility with several inorganic/organic solvents [18][19][20]. When the IL groups were modified on the surface of sorbents, they can provide a range of chemical bonds (hydrogen, ionic, π−π, et al) to increase the interaction between sorbents and target compounds [21].…”
