IT-Enabled Sustainable Supply Chain Management Capability Maturity

Abstract: The increasing importance of sustainability gives rise to the sustainable supply chain management (SSCM). To help organizations develop their SSCM capabilities with IT support, this paper proposes an ITenabled sustainability supply chain management capability maturity model (SSCM CMM). Based on the previous literature, seven SSCM capabilities and four IT dimensions are identified. A five-level maturity model is then defined based on these two domains. The model is preliminarily examined through an in-depth cas… Show more

“…The Maturity Model presented in this document is intended for a specific audience, such as IT managers and other department heads. In order for the Nigerian MDAs to accept this model, it will be evaluated by more than one individual for reliability, validity, and generality (Peng et al, 2021; Rahim et al, 2014).…”

“…Several research, such as Boudreau et al (2008) and Elliot (2011), have begun to investigate the field of Sustainability Supply Chain Management Information System (SSCMIS), and, in the process, initiating debates about MIS/critical IT's role in the deployment of SSCMIS apps and projects. There appears to be a general lack of understanding of the existence of a MIS maturity framework that is specifically designed for exhibiting MIS operations of firms and aligning them with SSCMIS application (Dike, 2007; Ogunsola, 2005; Peng et al, 2021).…”

“…[6][7][8] This is where the need for advanced technologies to be incorporated across chains and their business processes has been rising in the desire to achieve efficiencies and environment friendliness. 9,10 Blockchain is a known technology with a widespread ability to facilitate eliminating supply chain complexities. 1,11,12 BT has also termed the organization's strength to integrate supply chain channel members' activities and resources to add value to all SC interactions.…”

“…SSCM practices require information sharing among the supply chain partners [6]. Therefore, the use of ICT to capture, store, process, manage and share data within and across organizations, is critical for SSCM [7].…”

“…For example, Zhong et al [8] noted that emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) were used to facilitate sustainable logistics operations through real-time data capturing and quality traceability. Moreover, there are studies that focus on IT-enabled SSCM capability maturity (e.g., Peng et al [7]). However, there is a lack of research investigating factors influencing ICTenabled SSCM adoption.…”
