Iterative Learning Control for V-Shaped Electrothermal Microactuator

Abstract: The paper introduces a modified version of a Proportional Integral Derivative (PID)-type iterative learning algorithm, which is very simple to implement on a digital control device for tracking control of a continuous-time system. The simulative application of it is for controlling a V-shaped electrothermal microactuator (VEM) and is carried out by using a Simscape model of VEM for the purpose that the asymptotic tracking behavior of system output to desired trajectory will be verified in a virtually real envi… Show more

“…where F b is the thermal expansion force generates along the single beam; A is the area of the beam cross-section; Dl is the total thermal expansion along the length l b of single beam; a l is a thermal expansion coefficient of silicon; and E = 1.69 Â 10 5 (Mpa) is the silicon Young's modulus. Displacement of the beam tip B (called Dd i ) is described in Figure 3 (Nguyen et al, 2019).…”

“…MATLAB/simscape multibody provides a powerful quasi-physical simulation environment for multi-component mechanical systems such as robots, multibody systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. The simscape-based approach has been exploited successfully in several studies, e.g., [27]- [29]. Simscape multibody gives blocks representing links, joints, sensors, and torque/force components that make the simscape-based model conformable to the actual robot.…”
