Abstract

The Jordan curve theorem is the mathematical formulation of a fact that shepherds have relied on since time immemorial! Laurent Siebenmann, 2005 (in a letter to A. Ranicki).Manifolds that are not paracompact are amusing, but they never occur naturally. What is perhaps worse, it is difficult to prove anything about them.
