Kajian Peredaran Kayu Rakyat Di Wilayah Jawa Bagian Barat

Abstract: Wood from community forests has become an alternative for raw material to fulfill demand from households and wood industries, as wood supply from natural forests source and from Perhutani in Java have decreased. From supply side, the production of wood from community came from Banten and West Java Provinces and it tend this to increase year by year. Production increase happened in the study site such as in districts of Pandeglang, Lebak, Ciamis and Sukabumi.

“…Several studies have documented the important role of community forest in maintaining industry's future viability and improving carbon sequestration (Sakurai, Rayamajhi, Pokharel, & Otsuka, 2004;Duguma et al, 2018;Luintel, Bluffstone, & Scheller, 2018;Poudyal, Maraseni, & Cockfield, 2020). A study recorded community forests, mainly in Java, supplies approximately 26% of timber demand for commercial industries such as construction, furniture, and plywood (Hakim, Dwiprabowo, & Effendi, 2009). This trend has been increasing rapidly since the declining productivity of state forests in the 1990s.…”

Di sisi lain terdapat permasalahan kayu dari hutan rakyat, yang pada umumnya berkulitas rendah dengan J u r n a lT e o r e t i s d a n T e r a p a n B i d a n g R e k a y a s a S i p i l J u r n a lT e o r e t i s d a n T e r a p a n B i d a n g R e k a y a s a S i p i l Jurnal Teoretis dan Terapan Bidang Rekayasa Sipil diameter kecil, persentase kayu teras yang rendah dan persentase kayu muda (juvenile) yang tinggi (Pandit et al, 2011).…”
