Indonesian proverb is one of the forms of communication used by the Indonesian people. In the Indonesian proverb, it can be found the use of fauna lexicon due to the interaction of the society with the environment. This study is aimed at identifying the lexicons of fauna that are used and explaining the ecosophy of the fauna lexicons from the ecolinguistic perspective. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative approach. The method used in collecting the data is the proficient free listening method and the methods used in analyzing the data are distributional method as well as identity method. The result of the research shows that the fauna lexicons used in the Indonesian proverbs are spiders, flies, snails, caterpillars, ants, centipedes, gauges, bees, horses, dogs, cats, tigers, lions, chickens, birds, lizards, snakes, eels, and the gouramy. The lexicons have the important roles either in the construction of proverbs or their role in the Indonesian environment. Through the understanding of the ecosophy, it is concluded that the lexicons have the value of local wisdom, religuis value, consumptive value, productive value and potential value as well.
