“…The successful culture in pure growth, of Geotrichum candidum from different skin specimens collected at two different time points confirmed the etiology of this skin disease. The lack of fungus seen on histology is attributed to the lack of crusts submitted for examination, as this fungus is known to be keratinophilic [27] and possibly also to the limited number of biopsy samples taken from not ideal sites. The histopathology changes were disappointing as changes were non-specific in character, but consistent with chronic antigenic stimulation of the epidermis with epidermal hyperplasia and inflammation confined to the superficial dermis.…”

“…Talaromyces flavus isolated from paddy rhizosphere of Darjeeling Hills exhibited phosphate solubilizing activity in vitro and positively influenced the growth of Oryza sativa, Cicer arietinum, and Vigna radiata under greenhouse conditions (Chakraborty et al 2011). A keratin degrading strain of T. trachyspermus was isolated from the grounds of a gelatin factory in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, and digested human hair in stationary culture (Rajak et al 1991). Talaromyces trachyspermus was reported as a soil saprophyte in paddy fields of Orissa (Dutta and Ghosh 1965).…”
