Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia are often considered an important aspect of religious education. One aspect of the discussion that is rarely discussed in Islamic boarding schools is women's empowerment and gender equality because this is often considered an idea derived from western ideology and education. However, to solve the country's economic and development problems, ideas and discussions around gender equality and women's empowerment are now increasingly coming to the fore and becoming a public concern. One of the institutions that became the focus of this research was the involvement of Islamic boarding schools in teaching these ideas to their students. Thus, the main question in this study is how gender and women's empowerment are implemented in Islamic boarding schools. This study uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological studies to explore and identify existing field results by carrying out field observations and interviews with various speakers including educators and students as the primary method of data collection. Observations and interview questions are based on research formulations that focus on the practice and involvement of institutions and each Islamic boarding school actor in gender equality and women's empowerment. The results illustrate the role of an educational institution that optimizes education based on gender equality and women's empowerment in its curriculum. In addition, each individual also has an active role in efforts to empower women to change the negative stigma brought by conservative Islamic understanding of women. Education in Islamic boarding schools also actively tackles radicalism among its students. This study discusses how Islamic boarding schools in Tasikmalaya are reforming their curriculum and environment to assimilate with gender education and women's empowerment.

Kegiatan literasi di sekolah dasar belum didukung oleh kriteria penentuan bahan bacaan literasi yang sesuai dengan tahap perkembangan moral sehingga dapat menjadi tolok ukur relevansi bahan bacaan literasi seperti cerita rakyat dengan perkembangan moral. Untuk itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan kriteria bahan bacaan literasi yang sesuai dengan tahap perkembangan moral siswa sekolah dasar serta relevansi cerita rakyat Betawi sebagai bahan bacaan literasi di sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Untuk menentukan kriteria bahan bacaan literasi, menggunakan studi pustaka mengenai perkembangan moral Kohlberg dan penelitian perkembangan moral di sekolah dasar. Berdasarkan kriteria tersebut cerita rakyat kemudian dikaji dengan teknik analisis isi. Hasilnya, penelitian ini merekomendasikan tiga kiteria dari tiga tahap perkembangan moralitas siswa sekolah dasar. Untuk kriteria bahan bacaan literasi siswa kelas 1-3 adalah kepatuhan tokoh terhadap aturan, untuk kelas 4-6 adalah keputusan positif dari tokoh cerita, dan untuk kelas 5-6 adalah kerealistisan hidup. Penelitian ini juga merekomendasikan cerita rakyat Betawi sebagai bahan bacaan literasi untuk siswa sekolah dasar berdasarkan perkembangan moralnya. Dari 13 cerita, ada 10 cerita rakyat yang cocok, terdiri atas 4 cerita rakyat untuk siswa kelas 1-3, 1 cerita rakyat untuk kelas 4-6, dan 5 cerita rakyat untuk kelas 5-6.

The issue of gender equality is an issue that occurs in society. In certain societies gender discrimination does not seem to be a problem, even though it actually causes problems. Through this research, researchers examine the issue of gender equality in Indonesia. A theological research approach was used to address the issue of gender equality. The researcher found that the image of God in Genesis 1:26-28 is blurred by cultural factors. The image of God is to declare that human beings are the existence that reveals the form of God. Therefore, the presence of humans as the image of God implies that humans are the image of God who also inherits the attributes of God. Thus, men and women are in the image and likeness of God. Therefore, acts of gender discrimination are not feasible. Humans should not ignore each other as a perfect unity in God's creation. This is because God made men and women in His image and likeness.
