Kinetic spectrophotometric methods for the determination of artificial sweetener (sucralose) in tablets

Abstract: Two simple and sensitive kinetic spectrophotometric methods for the determination of sucralose are described. The first method is based upon a kinetic investigation of the oxidation reaction of the drug with alkaline potassium permanganate at room temperature for a fixed time of 30 min. The absorbance of the green coloured manganate ions produced was measured at 610 nm. The second method is based on the reaction of sucralose with cerium (IV) ammonium sulfate in the presence of perchloric acid with the subseque… Show more

“…Sucralose content of microspheres was assayed by the procedure of Youssef et al [ 49 ] except that a stock concentration of 5.5 mM KMnO 4 was used, and the incubation time was extended to 35 minutes. For the assay, sucralose and sucralose-containing microspheres were fully dissolved in HPLC-grade acetonitrile.…”

“…3 Sucralose (SUC) (Figure 1) is an official artificial and sugar substitute in USP. 14 Most ingested sucralose is not broken down by the body, so it is non-caloric. It is produced by the chlorination of sucrose.…”
