“…This fact indicates that OH À played dual roles during the hydrolysis of NaBH 4 . Similar phenomenon has been reported for Co [1,26,27] and Ni [4] catalyzed NaBH 4 hydrolysis system, but a negative effect on HGR was always observed for Ru catalyzed system with respect to NaOH at any given concentration [8,37]. Therefore, effect of NaOH concentration on hydrogen generation greatly depends on the catalysts used.…”

“…[19] Among metal borohydrides, sodium borohydride (NaBH 4 ) has high hydrogen producing capacity (about 21.2 wt.%, without water included), but the hydrolysis kinetics of NaBH 4 in pure water is sluggish, and expensive catalysts are required. [20,21] In contrast, the hydrolysis kinetics and hydrogen yield of metal/metal hydride are excellent. Various kinds of metal/metal hydride have been investigated for hydrolysis, such as Mg, [22] LiH, [23,24] H-CaMg 2 .…”

“…Hydrolysis reaction rate of NaBH 4 solution can be effectively enhanced by using transition metals [12]. Though noble metal catalysts like Ru [13], Pt [14] and Pd [15] have been reported to exhibit high catalytic activity for the hydrolysis of NaBH 4 , non-noble metal catalysts like CoeNieP [16], CoeB [17,18], NieCoeB [19] and CoeNiePeB [20] have been more widely applied to catalytic hydrolysis of NaBH 4 solution because of their low cost and good catalytic activity. Among the non-noble metal catalysts, Coebased catalysts show higher catalytic properties than Niebased catalysts [21], and Coebased catalysts prepared with the addition of transition metals such as W, Mo, Cu, Fe and Cr exhibit superior catalytic activity in hydrogen generation by hydrolysis of alkaline NaBH 4 solution [22].…”
