Knowledge Acquisition Among Engineeers in MNCS

Abstract: The objective of this paper is to investigate the relationship between individual's absorptive capacity and knowledge acquisition behavior among engineers in the electrical and electronic (E&E) sector in Malaysia. The study utilized survey method to collect the data. There were 305 responses for the survey. Partial least square (PLS) properties of structural equation modeling (SEM) were used to measure the relationships between the variables. The study found only partial support in absorptive capacity ability … Show more

“…Previously, Ahmad et al (2013) discussed the relationship between absorptive capacity and knowledge acquisition among engineers in multinational companies. The authors portrayed knowledge acquisition as a behavior factor, in line with SCT that explains the relationship between the environmental factors, individual factors and behavior factors.…”

“…In this circumstance, firms that gain the knowledge and expertise of other businesses are more productive and competitive than those less good at knowledge transfer [5]. Knowledge acquisition is an activity in information management that businesses commonly undertake, particularly by people who wish to acquire specialized knowledge in a particular context through focused actions [6]. Knowledge acquisition entails extracting, understanding, and distributing information to enhance current organizational knowledge [7].…”

“…According to Ahmad et al (2013), knowing something necessitates the representation of a mind with acquired information, and knowledge acquisition begins from birth with the acquisition of tacit knowledge through social interactions, observations, insight, intuition, and hunches. To make this process easier, people use a variety of sources and methods to acquire knowledge.…”
