Dental fluorosis occurs due to ingestion of excess fluoride during tooth formation stage. Fluoride decreases the incidence of dental caries but when exceeded above normal limit, it causes fluorosis. Fluorosis stains appear as white opaque stains. If the dental fluorosis is more severe, it appears brown due to secondary staining. The aim of the present study is to analyse the awareness levels on diagnosis of fluorosis stains among dental students. The present study is a survey based study. A set of 12 questionnaires were prepared and distributed among students of Saveetha Dental College. The questionnaires are about fluorosis, its diagnosis and treatment. We found that only a smaller number of people are not aware of fluorosis stains and majority of them say that the cause is consumption of drinks. Majority of the students are aware of the diagnosis and treatment plan for fluorosis stains. Hence the present study showed that there is proper awareness on fluorosis stains among dental students. Though there is proper awareness of fluorosis stains, there are few populations who are not aware of its diagnosis. Hence proper awareness on fluorosis should be created among students and other populations.

Background: Fluoride has advantages but acts as a toxin if consumed in excess. It interferes with the normal process of enamel as well as bone formation leading to an increased risk of dental and skeletal fluorosis. This study was aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude and practices related to fluoride and fluorosis among the residents of fluoride endemic villages of Kondagaon, Central India.Methods: The study was carried out among 600 individuals aged 5 years and above. Each village was considered as a cluster. The number of participants from each village was determined based on proportionate sampling following which households in each village were selected based on systematic random sampling.Results: Among the participants one-fourth of the total participants (26%) had heard the term fluorosis, less than one-fourth (23.3%) responded that fluorosis is preventable, while more than three-fourths (77.7%) had no knowledge about fluoride prevention and mitigation programs of government. Also, the attitude of more than two-third of the individuals (70.3%) is negative towards the fluorosis control program.Conclusions: The knowledge, attitude and practices of the study were found to be very low. This suggests that more efforts have to be made at the grass-root level for creating awareness.

TRAIL-ing TWAIL: Arguments and Blind Spots in Third World Approaches to International Law

Beginning in the early 1990s, Third World Approaches to International Law scholarship (TWAIL) destabilized the mainstream narrative within international law that its doctrines were constituted by the historic search for order between formally equal state sovereigns. Instead, TWAIL scholars argued that the key constitutive dynamic of the discipline was the colonial experience, which continues to hold powerful sway over the legal architecture of global regulation whereby international law functions to perpetuate inequality and oppression. At the same time, however, TWAIL scholarship regularly posits international law as an emancipatory force that may be mobilized on behalf of former colonized populations and other marginalized social identities. The rise of post-Marxist scholarship, and more generally, the turn to interdisciplinary within the profession in recent years offers an opportunity to analyze this curious paradox and construct alternative modes of analysis for future TWAIL scholarship. In the first section, the paper draws upon a diverse array of TWAIL scholars over the last thirty years to map the argumentative logic within TWAIL literature. In the second section, the paper incorporates debates and insights from complimentary academic disciplines to illuminate some blind spots within TWAIL’s central arguments, and potentially ‘radicalize’ its future possibility of critique against the growing inequality within global governance.
