“…We detected Brucella species in cow milk, which is similar to previous reports in Egypt (Wareth, Melzer, Elschner, Neubauer, & Roesler, 2014), in Uganda (Hoffman et al., 2016) and in Tanzania (Assenga et al., 2015; Mathew et al., 2015). This calls for public health attention since some residents in the study area drink unboiled milk as it was reported previously (Ntirandekura, Matemba, Ngowi, Kimera, & Karimuribo, 2018a). We are also reporting the presence of Brucella in goat milk.…”

“…The failure to detect Brucella species in aborted materials could have been associated to the transport medium used (liquid nitrogen), long time for conservation of samples before analysis (9 months) and the low DNA concentration among other factors. However, other factors associated with reproductive failures need to be ruled out for a causal relationship between brucellosis and abortions to hold (Ntirandekura, Matemba, Ngowi, et al, 2018).…”

“…This emergency pig sell contributes to the spread of the virus in resource-poor settings, including between countries (50-52). However, considering the proximity of the Rutana region to Ruvubu National Park, where warthogs are present (20), and the reported uncontrolled movement of wild animal species between Ruvubu National Park in Burundi, Akagera National Park in Rwanda, and the Kimisi and Burigi game reserves in Tanzania (49), the virus spillover from the sylvatic to the domestic cycle cannot be excluded based on the results of this study.…”

“…Kagera region on the Tanzanian side and the Rutana region in Burundi share borders, and uncontrolled animal movement, including that of domestic pigs, are more likely to happen between these two regions. For instance, movement of refugees together with their livestock, reported in the area (49), can contribute to the spread of animal diseases, including ASF. It has been reported that in order to reduce the economic loss due to ASF outbreaks, some farmers sell their pigs before they show clinical signs as soon as ASF is suspected.…”

“…Despite the emergence of a signi cant number of new antibiotics, the treatment of intracellular pathogens still represents a challenge in pharmacy [6]. Nowadays, with the preparation of pharmaceutical nanoparticles, unique properties can be achieved that will increase the performance and variety of its drug forms.…”
