Knowledge Transfer and Capacity for Dissemination

Abstract: The process of knowledge transfer has been extensively studied in the context of a variety of theoretical considerations. In this paper the authors adopt a communication theory perspective and focus on capacity for dissemination. Many studies assume that universities are able to disseminate and commercialize their knowledge (and technology). However, it has been shown in practice that dissemination and commercialization can be problematic. Following a review of the literature, the authors identify fou… Show more

“…These four components combine with and complement each other (Camis on & For es, 2010), providing a firm with the ability to reconfigure the knowledge base and its strategic capabilities to become more responsive, competitive and innovative (Fosfuri & Trib o, 2008) than competitors. Development of absorptive capacity by a receiver results in greater conformity and interest during a source's knowledge transfer, established when there is regular contact and mutual exchanges of information (Kuiken & van der Sijde, 2011). From frequent interactions come common languages, beliefs and values, created among those involved, reducing obstacles to knowledge absorption (P erez-Nordtvedt et al, 2008) due to a gradual increase in engagement when developing collaboration during knowledge acquisition (Szulanski et al, 2016).…”

“…interaction. The former reflects as a knowledge transfer process in one-to-many pattern, and the latter expresses a two-way process, which promotes the knowledge communication and integration through the interaction between teachers and students (Kuiken & Peter, 2011). According to the responses from interviewees, knowledge transfer behaviors directly affect their learning willingness and the difficulties in absorbing knowledge, and thus have important impacts on teaching effects.…”
